Local hazards. Reported: extremely shallow flat lava reef with jagged lava spires and caverns; hold-downs; sand build-up causing violent close-outs; documented fatalities reported (Wikipedia names two); Backdoor and Off the Wall especially dangerous; very heavy crowd and local hierarchy ('the crowd might be more dangerous than the reef', OMBE); strong rips; no-park/tow zones and very limited parking.
